The money I’ve spent on Personal Development Audiobooks, pales in comparison to the knowledge I have received. It has been an incredible journey discovering these life changing ideas, so naturally you talk to others about what you have learned. The comments that people make are fascinating but there is one that irks me more than any other.
“Can I borrow it when you’re done!”
Forget the fact that when you lend out most anything that you never just get it back. If you’re like me, then you have to hunt that person down to retrieve your borrowed item. Now this is aggravating, but there is another reason this bothers me so much.
In the beginning allowing someone to read your Personal Development book doesn’t seem like a very big deal and I was the first one to burn a copy and hand it over. But after reading many Audiobooks I now realize that part of the lessons were to actually pay for the them. There is a reason why people who pay for college themselves are more likely to finish than those who have it paid for them….they have something invested! If you want to quit smoking then you have to want it for you, asking someone to “hide” them won’t help. Part of the challenge is for YOU to take action. So next time someone recommends a great PD book, do yourself a favor and go and buy it. Odds are that you will absorb more of the information and you never know, you might just read it more than once!
